HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE – 26/3/2021
Fri 26 Mar 2021Dear Parent and Carers,
Welcome to another heads update, the penultimate week of this term! As always, I am pleased to share that the children have been working hard – all the classes have impressed me this week.
I am thrilled to announce that we have successfully recruited a Safeguarding and Welfare Lead to join the team at Glenleigh Park. The staff member will start in term 6 and will support the school’s strong culture of safeguarding and provide an additional support to all our children and families when they need it. I understand how stressful the last year has been on everyone and especially our pupils so I want to ensure that every child has the emotional and welfare support they deserve.
This week the senior leadership’s monitoring focus has been maths, Miss Sims and Miss Sargent, who lead maths at Glenleigh Park, have both expressed how amazed they are with the children’s ability to problem solve and reason. As you can see from my headline photo, we encourage the children to represent their mathematical thinking in different ways so they can master the concepts.
Remember to put your clocks forward, to mark the start of British Summer Time, when we will have more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings. Let’s hope we have some super summer weather!
Best wishes – always
Mrs Pocock

HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE – 19/3/21
Fri 19 Mar 2021Dear Parents and Carers
As you know, we have four values at Glenleigh Park – Growth, Perseverance, Positivity and Achievement. Every day at school, the children are encouraged to uphold these values and to role model these ideals in all they do. This week I have seen so many children demonstrate the school’s values; from our youngest children in reception, who were persevering with developing their star jumping abilities, to the oldest children who have been achieving such high standards of creative writing through studying the incredible book ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan.
The buzz around learning has been evident in every corner of the school!
Since returning to face-to-face education, the children have all shown personal growth, academic growth and above all character growth. Not just in the classroom but at lunchtimes and during transition times. When I shared my whole school assembly theme on Monday, being there for each other, I was so pleased with the children’s feedback – they all expressed that being together back in school made then feel safe and they enjoyed being part of the school community.
Being positive about school is such a powerful thing; your help as parents and carers in fostering a positive attitude to school is so important – thank you! Thank you for ensuring your children are in the correct uniform, that your children attend school every day and for making sure they read daily. With your continued support, we know, we can help every child at Glenleigh Park reach their full potential.
Have a wonderful weekend
Best wishes

HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE 12/3/21
Fri 12 Mar 2021Dear Parents/Carers
It has been a fantastic week here at Glenleigh Park. The children have settled back into school brilliantly and everyone at school is so proud of them.
As you can see from my headline photo, we started the week by continuing our celebration of World Book Day. During this last lockdown, we were very fortunate to receive a donation from Hastings Direct and we decided to use this additional funding to buy every child from Nursery to year 6 a book. Reading is a priority for us at Glenleigh Park and seeing the children’s enthusiastic and grateful smiles on Monday was a delight.
I am sure you have all been listening to the news and reports in the media about the government considering summer schools, extending the school day, twilight lessons and extra tutoring for the children, which I am sure, may have its place if planned and introduced carefully. However, I wanted to reassure you that at Glenleigh Park are priority is to celebrate what the children have achieved and continue to achieve. The children have welcomed being back at school, they appreciate the structure and routine school provides and our role as educators is to utilise their enthusiasm for learning and encourage their creativity and imagination.
During the week, I have had the privilege to lead a reading group with some year 2 children, take part in a year 5 writing lesson and experience the enthusiasm of an art lesson in year 3. The buzz around learning at Glenleigh Park this week has been incredible – well done everyone!
Please check-out this week’s Bulletin – there are updates on our end of day timings and our key dates.
I hope you all have a restful weekend and I look forward to seeing all of the children and yourselves at the gates on Monday.
