    What to bring to nursery

*Please ensure all items are named.*

*Please remember that children will be engaging in a range of different activities at nursery. Whilst we try to keep children's clothes clean, we ask that children wear comfortable clothing suitable for messy play.*

    For all children:

    - A water bottle

    - A full change of clothes in a bag (including socks, underwear and shoes)

    - A pair of wellies

    - An all-in-one waterproof suit

    - A warm coat (weather dependent)

For children in nappies: please bring a pack of nappies, wipes and cream for us to keep in their basket.

For children who are with us all day: a packed lunch (a hot school meal is also available daily at a cost of £3 per day if you prefer; this can be booked on the day, when dropping off).

Please note that snacks and milk are provided for children during both morning and afternoon sessions. Children under the age of 5 are entitled to free school milk, but you must sign up for them to receive this. You can do so by visiting Cool Milk.

    How we communicate with you

At Glenleigh Park, we communicate with our families in a number of ways. Our 'Key Dates and Reminders' are sent out to all primary guardians via Arbor at the end of each week, so you can make a note of all upcoming events. You will also receive our 'Head's Update' fortnightly, as well as our termly Newsletter. All these documents are also shared on the Glenleigh Park Facebook page, along with other interesting updates and news.

For day-to-day communication, the nursery staff will be available at the start and end of each day. We encourage parents and carers to communicate anything we might need to know at the start of the day, and our staff will ensure any pertinent information is also passed to parents at collection times.

We also use an online platform called Tapestry to share updates and photos with you throughout the week, so you can keep up to date with what they are learning and developing whilst at nursery.

    Term Dates

You can view our full term dates, including INSET days, for this academic year here.

    Settling-in process information

To help your child feel comfortable in their new environment, we offer settling-in sessions, to ensure they and you feel safe and happy about starting nursery.

The first session will last 1 hour, during which parents/carers stay with their child and share all relevant information with us. This is a good opportunity for you and your child to explore the room together.

The second session will last 1 hour and 30 minutes, and during this visit, we encourage you to leave your child with us to help them begin their transition. We ask parents/carers to wait nearby.

We understand that all children are individuals, so we only book two sessions initially. However, if we feel your child would benefit from additional settling-in sessions before starting their normal sessions, this will be discussed with you at the second visit.

These sessions give children an opportunity to get to know their key person, meet other children and become familiar with the nursery routine.

    Food and snack information

Children who are with us for lunch can have a school dinner if you wish, and these are available at a cost of £3.00 per meal. Hot meals can be booked on the day, no need to book in advance; please just let us know when dropping off your child. You can find out more about our school dinners here. Some nursery-aged children may be entitled to free school meals if they meet specific conditions; you can find out if you are eligible and apply online for Free School Meals here. Alternatively, you can provide a packed lunch from home if you prefer.

Children under the age of 5 are entitled to free school milk, but in order for them to receive this, you must register them at Cool Milk.

We provide a mid-morning snack bar that the children can access independently, where they have the option of toast, cereal, crumpets and a selection of fruit. This is provided free of charge.

In the afternoon, children come together to have a group snack that consists of crackers, breadsticks, cucumber and tomatoes and this is also free of charge. Please be assured all allergies are taken into consideration when providing snacks.

Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle with them each day (no glass bottles please).
