At Glenleigh Park Primary Academy, we strive for our children to develop an interest in learning other languages in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating. In our school, we celebrate French afternoons where the children are immersed in French language and culture. Our KS1 children are taught what life is like in France and our KS2 children begin to learn the French language.  

We intend to stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity about language. Our French curriculum is designed using the National Curriculum to progressively develop children skills in languages. Through our French afternoons, children progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary organised around topics.  

We aim to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing necessary to enable children to use and apply their French learning in a variety of contexts and lay the foundations for future language learning.
