HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE 12/06/2020
Today marks the end of the first week back to our partial re-opening to pupils in our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6! It has been a wonderful week; I have really enjoyed welcoming back some of our pupils and appreciated having the opportunity to talk with their families at the start and end of the school day. I am incredibly proud of all the pupils, who came in smartly and, most importantly, excitedly, ready to reunite with their friends and teachers – some familiar faces – all from a distance of course!
Our Facebook page shows some of the activities that have taken place in school and the nursery over the week. Year 6 have been exploring the book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy, creating their own inspirational quotes and discovering how to be kind to others and themselves.
Our keyworker bubbles have been predicting and investigating scientific phenomena looking at chemical reactions. Year 1 have been talking about staying safe at school, having bubble lunches and we have even had a giant bubble making competition in reception.
This is a great opportunity to offer my ‘thanks’. Firstly, to you – during these uncertain times, the support you have provided the school has been incredibly welcome. It has been challenging for so many of us, for a number of reasons, but there has been a real sense of community spirit. Thank you!
Secondly, the staff team have worked tirelessly and unconditionally across the weeks that we have been closed and put in an incredible effort last week, moving furniture and redesigning classrooms in preparation that we could be ready to open, and I’d like to thank them all for their commitment. Finally, a school is really just a building without children, so to be able to reopen, even if to just a few year groups, meant a lot to the staff. The pupils were incredibly calm and sensible. Wider than that, I know that our pupils have been working on their learning packs at home. The teachers have loved keeping in touch and enjoyed receiving all the fantastic home learning photos and updates. Thank you to you all!
I look forward to welcoming back all of our pupils, whenever this may be! Should you wish to contact us, please use the school office email address (GLPAOffice@AuroraAcademies.org) and someone will get back to you as soon as they are able to.
Continue to stay safe and look after each other!
