HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE 12/3/21
Dear Parents/Carers
It has been a fantastic week here at Glenleigh Park. The children have settled back into school brilliantly and everyone at school is so proud of them.
As you can see from my headline photo, we started the week by continuing our celebration of World Book Day. During this last lockdown, we were very fortunate to receive a donation from Hastings Direct and we decided to use this additional funding to buy every child from Nursery to year 6 a book. Reading is a priority for us at Glenleigh Park and seeing the children’s enthusiastic and grateful smiles on Monday was a delight.
I am sure you have all been listening to the news and reports in the media about the government considering summer schools, extending the school day, twilight lessons and extra tutoring for the children, which I am sure, may have its place if planned and introduced carefully. However, I wanted to reassure you that at Glenleigh Park are priority is to celebrate what the children have achieved and continue to achieve. The children have welcomed being back at school, they appreciate the structure and routine school provides and our role as educators is to utilise their enthusiasm for learning and encourage their creativity and imagination.
During the week, I have had the privilege to lead a reading group with some year 2 children, take part in a year 5 writing lesson and experience the enthusiasm of an art lesson in year 3. The buzz around learning at Glenleigh Park this week has been incredible – well done everyone!
Please check-out this week’s Bulletin – there are updates on our end of day timings and our key dates.
I hope you all have a restful weekend and I look forward to seeing all of the children and yourselves at the gates on Monday.
Mrs Pocock
