HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE – 16/10/2020
Welcome to this week’s weekly update.
I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone who donated to our harvest collection, as you can see from my headline photo the Glenleigh Park community has been very generous. On Monday the children were fortunate to have a very informative assembly from Reverend David and his colleague Karline Botha, the children were introduced to some new and exotic fruits and discussed the importance of sharing and kindness.
This week we also had our first parent consultations via telephone. I am so pleased with how this process went and the feedback from the teachers and yourselves has been entirely positive – thank you.
As I have previously shared everyone at Glenleigh Park believes reading is a fundamental skill that all children must master, therefore we are ensuring that it has a high profile in every Glenleigh classroom. I am sure the teachers all shared with you during your parent consultations that reading at home, regularly, is vital in supporting children to develop not only a love of books but the fluency and comprehension skills they need to be successful readers.
Similarly, we are absolutely determined that the children at Glenleigh Park will receive an inspirational curriculum and I am delighted to say this is happening. Your children should be sharing with you the focuses of their learning journeys and how they are learning about key concepts and how they connect and link across the curriculum. We have carried out all the usual reviews of our curriculum this term and we have been impressed with the quality of work in the children’s books. It was clear that all the children across the school are striving to do their best!
Have a really wonderful weekend
