HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE 19/06/2020
Dear parents and carers,
Today marks the end of our first two weeks of our partial re-opening to pupils in our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. It has been wonderful to welcome some of our year groups back to school and the children have certainly enjoyed all the learning and activities.
My concerns around how the children would settle back into school were unfounded as even though the children had been away from school for more than two months – a long time. I needn’t have worried – all of the children, without exception, have come to school, ready to learn and excited to reunite with their friends and teachers and being confident to talk about their lock-down experiences – I am very proud of them all!
This week, children in year 6 have been challenging themselves with long division and writing story settings, whilst Year 1 have been studying the book Super Worm and creating their own fabulous rhymes. Mrs Sinfield kindly invited me to hear some of the rhymes – well done children I was very impressed. In reception the children have loved reading the book ‘Commotion in the Ocean and you can see their fabulous art work in our headline photo.
On Monday, we are excited to be welcoming back more children from reception, Year 1 and Year 6 and I am sure they will settle in as brilliantly as our current cohort of children.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff for their commitment and dedication during the past two weeks – it has been a huge effort to get the school reopened and I am grateful for their continued enthusiasm and teamwork.
To all of our families – Thank you! It has been so lovely to chat to you on the gates and hear how pleased you are with the measures we have in place to keep everyone safe.
Please take care and stay safe!
Mrs Pocock
Head of School.
