HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE – 2/10/2020
It is hard to believe that we have been back at school for 4 week, the time is whizzing by. As always we have had a week of fabulous learning with lots to celebrate.
On Monday we joined over 1,000,000 pupils to watch The Big Anti-Bullying Assembly, which was produced by The Diana Award and Nationwide Building Society. They identified that so much has changed for schools and young people because of COVID-19 so they wanted to support schools and children in returning to school by sharing messages for mutual respect in our schools and communities. The video included many famous faces and there was even a special message from the England men’s football coach Gareth Southgate. The video shared important messages with our children that link closely to our school values and vision. In all the classes the children discussed putting an end to bullying, celebrating diversity, and creating communities of kindness. All key attributes that I am sure you agree we all strive to achieve.
Also, this week we have celebrated National Poetry week, all the classes engaged in sharing poems, writing poems and discovering all the wonderful ways we can use words when writing poem.
Primrose and Buttercup classes wrote acrostic poems to celebrate their class names.
Summer appears to be officially over and the cooler autumn mornings are fast approaching, the early signs of autumn are appearing which means we will be celebrating Harvest festival soon. This spectacular season brings many exciting changes but the colder and dark nights can make things difficult for some. Therefore, we are really pleased to share that Reverend Lockwood will be leading a Harvest Festival Service to all the school via an online platform from the church and we will be collecting food donations for ‘Bexhill Foodbank.’ Further details regarding how you can donate will be sent in a separate letter.
Finally, we are hoping to be able to invite parents to sign up for parent consultations soon using Arbor as these will need to be via telephone call we are just finalising all the details and will update you soon.
Have a wonderful weekend, stay safe and wrapped up warm, as the weather is set to be pretty miserable this weekend when Storm Alex hits.
