HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE - 26/6/21
Fri 25 Jun 2021Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to this week’s update.
As I am sure you are all aware, we have had to make some changes to the proposed plans for our end of year summer events. This is due to the rise in Covid cases locally and the recent advice from the government in how schools need to operate safely.
However, we are delighted that we are going ahead with sports day for the children, as they are keen to develop their athletics skills and participate in team events. As I communicated in my letter on 15 June, we are sadly unable to invite spectators. We will ensure that you have an update and we will share photos of events etc. when we are able to. We plan to organise ‘bubble’ events so the children can take part in the fun safely.
On Tuesday this week, we welcomed Kit Messenger into school. Kit is a former primary head teacher and Co-founder of Changing Chances. She is a tutor at the University of Sussex and a qualified coach. Kit is determined to bring about big changes in how behaviour is tackled in the education system and beyond. We are so excited to be working with Kit again. Kit believes in “building unconditional, positive, supportive relationships between adults and children.” It was wonderful that Kit expressed this is exactly what she saw at Glenleigh Park, she voiced that she was incredibly impressed with the children’s focus and attitudes, despite the challenges they have faced this year due to the pandemic.
I really hope you have a lovely weekend and that the sun does make an appearance.
Mrs Pocock

HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE - 18/6/21
Fri 18 Jun 2021Welcome to this week's Weekly Update! The children have settled well into term 6.
Already, I have seen some excellent writing and maths mastery work - I am looking forward to seeing more of this fabulous work across the next few weeks.
Last Friday, we had an Inset day which focused on feedback and marking. All the teaching staff had the opportunity to reflect on their current systems for supporting the children to move forward in their learning. Having the opportunity to evaluate and learn is always so rewarding, as it enables us to ensure we are providing the best possible teaching and learning for the children at school. As we tell the children, ‘Every day is a day to learn something new!’
I have spent time in all the classes this week. I was particularly impressed with the independence in learning I observed in reception; their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn is wonderful. Also, I had the opportunity to observe our nursery children at the start of the day. It was an absolute pleasure to see them start the day so positively and with such efficient hand washing routines.
Finally, I want to say thank you to all of you who have supported the PTFA today with your donations for Rainbow Day. The school has been a sea of colour; the children have loved spreading some cheer and sunshine on such a dreary, wet day.
I hope you like the collection of photos, in my update, that share some of the great outfits from the day.
Have a great weekend. Let’s hope the rain stays away!
Best wishes Mrs Pocock
